Sodalite is a royal blue mineral with white calcite streaks. It is often fluorescent under UV light. It is sometimes compared to lapis lazuli, a similar, often more intensely blue rock formed from lazurite (which is a member of the sodalite group), pyrite, diopside, and calcite. A lot of lapis lazuli comes from Taliban run mines in Afghanistan... if you’re looking for that lapis look without contributing to that particular supply chain, sodalite is a beautiful alternative that’s commonly found in locations as diverse as Canada, South America, and Greenland.
