Tiger eye is a chatoyant stone in which quartz crystals intergrow with amphibole fibers that have turned to yellow limonite or red hematite. The intergrown fibers form, essentially, like Venetian blinds and allow you to see different light refracted when viewed from different angles. 

Red tiger eye is said to be a stone of focus, of calm and self-control. It can help bolster the willpower to get things done.
