Petrified Wood Slab 176g

This is a very nice slab of petrified wood with a portal through it.  The colour differentiation in the minerals is dramatic but still earthy and beautiful, and you can see the shape and depth of the bark.

Petrified wood forms when organic matter is replaced by stone. Generally, a tree is encased in mud or ash, keeping oxygen out so it can’t rot. Over time, water seeps in, eroding the plant matter and replacing it with the elements necessary to form agate, chalcedony, or opal.

Petrified wood is said to be an exceptionally grounding stone, literally connecting the organic world to the crystalline. It helps us appreciate our ties to Mother Earth and grow stronger and more durable as we participate in the processes the world provides. It is said to help connect us with our past and with our ancestors, helping us remember that even though our history can harden us, we can still emerge beautiful.
