Tourmaline is a complex silicate, compounding elements like aluminium, iron, magnesium, sodium, lithium, and/or potassium. It forms in a variety of colours and is often referred to as Schorl when it is very dark brown to black.
Black tourmaline is said to be exceptionally protective and capable of purifying negative energy.
